Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH)

The Legal Requirements

With our 12 years of experience in the health and safety field we know that one of the legal requirements most often neglected by small to medium sized enterprises is the requirement to carry out COSHH assessments.

These Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations 2002 require an assessment to be made of all substances hazardous to health in order to identify means of preventing or controlling exposure. Failure to do so is a criminal offence!

The Penalty

Unless you can prove that you have taken "all reasonable precautions and exercised all due diligence" you will be guilty of the offence and could be prosecuted and fined.
